Using CPR to Save Lives

Effective bystander CPR can save lives, which is something Bran Simon learned first-hand a few weeks ago. After hearing yelling and crying in his apartment building, Bran ran over to see what was wrong and saw a man lying on the floor with no vital signs. Bran knew exactly what he needed to do thanks to his up-to-date first aid and CPR training from the Red Cross. He moved everyone out of the way and started performing CPR on the man.

With the help of one of the man’s relatives, Bran performed CPR until emergency medics arrived on the scene. The man was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he began breathing on his own. Bran’s efforts played a huge role in the man’s survival and Bran has been nominated for a Red Cross Rescue Award by one of our Social Media team members, Jorge Rosales, who shared Bran’s story on his blog.
